FIFA has rejected Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini’s appeals against their provisional 90-day suspension.
The pair were banned in October, amid allegations of corruption and embezzlement of funds.
“The FIFA Appeal Committee, chaired by Larry Mussenden, has today rejected in full the appeals lodged by Joseph S. Blatter and Michel Platini and confirmed in their entirety the respective decisions (cf. art. 84 par. 2 of the FIFA Code of Ethics) concerning provisional measures taken by the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee,” a statement read.
UEFA chief, Platini, has already confirmed that he will pursue his appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Frenchman via his lawyers, denounced “a statement that is unfair, biased and dependent on repeat violations of the right to defend oneself by FIFA.
“It suggests that this is a deliberate and unacceptable strategy to delay Michel Platini’s campaign for presidency. He trusts CAS will help to restore his rights.
“At no time, despite repeat requests, has Michel Platini been permitted to present his defence before those judging him, which is unbelievable.
“Platini remains a calm and determined candidate for the presidency of FIFA.”
