A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 41-year-old blacksmith identified as Alhassan Bala, in prison custody for defiling a 12-year-old girl.

The accused, who resides at Zango Quarters Kano, is charged with rape, an offence that is contrary to section 283 of the penal code, NAN reports.

The prosecutor, Insp. Pogu Lale, told the court that one Aisha Sa’idu of Rimin Kebe Quarters Kano reported the matter at Shahuci Police Division Kano, on Dec. 19, 2018.

Lale said that the accused deceived and lured the 12-year-old girl into an isolated place located at Rimin Kebe Quarters Kano and had sexual intercourse with her.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril ordered the remand of the accused in prison pending legal advice from the office of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
