Consequent to the death of three year old Imienfan Omokaro who got drowned during school hours at Kingdom Heritage Model school operated by Winners Chapel in Benin, the General Overseer, Bishop David Oyedepo has been asked to pay N2 billion within 14 days as general damages or face legal action.
The letter which was written by Omokaro’s Counsel, Prince Peter E. Uwadiae-Igbinigie dated November 28, 2012 was also presented to News men in Benin, Edo state capital. In it, the counsel explained that the huge amount was “for the callous and senseless killing of our client’s daughter, Miss Imienfan Omokaro.”
Stating more of their demands, Omokaro’s lawyers also compelled Kingdom Heritage Model School to tender unreserved apology in three national newspapers, warning that if the demands were not met within 14 days, “we have the irrevocable instructions of our client to commence legal action against the school (Kingdom Heritage Model School) and Church (Winners Chapel) without any further correspondence from this Chambers.”
It could be recalled that last month, Dailypost published a story of how little Imienfan Omokaro, a KG I pupil of Kingdom Heritage Model School got drowned in a drum of water inside the school toilet.
The teachers on duty allegedly concealed the truth from her mother when she came to pick her little girl after school hours until late in the evening.
Shaken by the condition of the Miss Imienfan, the school authorities and Winners Chapel had reportedly kept the girl for more than an hour, praying for her to resuscitate her . However, when their prayers seemed unanswered, they later took her to Irowa Hospital in Benin, where she was confirmed dead on arrival (DOA) by the doctors.
