Bill establishing Federal Polytechnic Kabo passes second reading in Senate

The bill establishing Federal Polytechnic, Kabo in Kano State passed second reading in the Senate on Wednesday.

Sponsor of the bill, Senator Jibrin Barau representing Kano North senatorial district, explained that the Polytechnic would empower the people in the north.

Highlighting the benefit of Polytechnic education, the lawmaker said it would provide education in applied science management, agriculture and other field of studies.

Senator Adamu Aliero while contributing to the debate stressed that there was need to establish a Polytechnic in Kano.

Aliero said, like other states of the federation, Kano has no federal Polytechnic, hence, it was equitable to establish one in Kano.

The bill was passed for second reading following voice votes put by the Senate President.

The report of the bill followed a Public hearing which was conducted three weeks ago by the Senate Committee on TETFUND and tertiary institutions.
