Members of the Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF, have set aside December 1, 2018 as a day of action in demand of the whereabouts of their missing leader, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka.
DAILY POST reports that the self-acclaimed Biafra Zionists President was last seen on August 20 after the group’s encounter with security operatives as they attempted to gain entrance into the Enugu Government House.
There have been speculations by his members that he may have been killed in detention.
In a statement issued by the group’s national coordinator, Comrade Ogbu Gilbert, he said having waited for security operatives to open up on what happened to their leader, they had set aside December 1 as a day of action.
He said “by this statement, we are calling on all Biafrans at home and in the Diaspora to return en-masse and join in demand for the whereabouts of our leader, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka.
“We have earlier announced that our members are ready to engage in mass suicide. So, we are urging Biafrans to join us that day in every action to prevail on security operatives to release our leader dead or alive.
“All lovers of Biafra are to join us in this all-important action as we shall not remain strangers in our own land; we say enough of this intimidation by state forces.
“May we also restate our call to the international community and civil rights organizations for their attention to the illegality being perpetrated by the Nigerian Government through her security agencies against the peaceful people of Biafra.
“Having said this, we declare that December 1 is the day, and our demand is simple ‘release Barr Benjamin Onwuka, the leader of the Biafra Zionists, dear or alive.’
“He has put up a good fight for the freedom of the oppressed Biafrans and he deserves at least a befitting burial.”
