Biafra: Police arrest BIM Director, Igbokwe, others during protest in Onitsha

Following the protest by agitators of Biafra on Tuesday, the Anambra State Police Command, says it has arrested 14 persons in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The spokesperson of the police Command in the state, Mrs. Nkeiruka Nwode, said those arrested include, 13 males, one female, and the Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, Director of Information for the state North zone, Mr. Charles Igbokwe.

Igbokwe was arrested alongside others for unlawful behaviour while marching towards Amazo Oil along Onitsha-Owerri road.

According to Nwode, the police shot sporadically to disperse the protesters who were chanting war songs to mark the 17th anniversary of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB.

Supporters of MASSOB had yesterday assembled in large number to mark the 17th year anniversary of the movement which has been in the vanguard of actualizing the state of Biafra.
