Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu is currently being held hostage at his Umuahia residence by personnel of the Nigerian Army.
DAILY POST gathered that soldiers invaded Kanu’s residence as early as 5.30am Tuesday and started shooting sporadically.
IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.
According to Powerful, “That is true, soldiers came out since 5.30am this morning and Nnamdi Kanu is being held hostage.
“For now, there is no casualty because our people are very calm and we have no plan to attack any government security agents despite them attacking us.
“Yesterday, they, soldiers, attacked Kanu’s convoy at Ubaakalla, they keep attacking us.”
But a military source, who wished not to be named, however, denied the claim, when contacted by DAILY POST.
The source urged the public to “discountenance” the report.
“The news should be discountenanced as nothing of such incident happened, the military will issue a statement shortly regarding the situation,” the Military source said.
