The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has threatened to carry out an ‘internal native’ revolution against political, traditional, religious and opinion leaders in Igboland for being insensitive to the plight of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, and other detained pro-Biafra activists.
MASSOB, in a statement issued on Sunday by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, pointed out that the pro-Biafra agitators are ‘working’ for the Igbos, and wondered why Igbo leaders, including those in government, have not spoken out against the continued incarceration of Kanu and other activists.
Kanu, had on the 14th of this month while recently marking his one year in detention despite being granted bail by several courts, reiterated his resolve towards struggling for the actualisation of Biafra, stressing that it is “Biafra or death”.
The MASSOB leader, however, warned that pro-Biafra groups in the South-East would launch an internal revolution against Igbo leaders if Kanu and the other detained activists spent Christmas in prison.
He pointed out that the pro-Biafra agitation was also a protest against the marginalisation of the Igbos in the scheme of things in the country.
Madu said, “The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra blasts Igbo religious, traditional, political and opinion leaders for their nonchalant and insensitive attitude towards the plight of detained Biafra agitators in Nigerian prisons.
“MASSOB charges Igbo leaders to rise up now in defense of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi, Innocent Orji, Sabastine Amadi, Benjamin Onwuka and other detained Biafra agitators across Nigerian prisons.
“What are the primary duties of Igbo senators and federal representatives in Abuja?
“Why must Igbo traditional rulers continue to celebrate ofalas (ceremonies) and New Yam festivals while their subjects are still in detention for Igbo cause?
“What are the religious leaders still preaching while our brethren are still in prison?
“We demand that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and others will not spend Christmas in prison again or internal native revolution will start in Igboland.”
