The second accused person in the ongoing trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, Benjamin Madubugwu, has lashed out at the Federal Government over claims that unlicensed guns were found on him.
Madubugwu, who alongside Kanu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and David Nwawuisi, are standing trial for charges bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism, was accused among other things of having in his possession unlicensed guns.
But his counsel, Maxwell Opara while addressing reporters in Abuja, insisted that the two guns recovered from his client’s residence during a raid by security agents were licensed.
Opara further advised the federal government to withdraw the criminal charges against Madubugwu.
According to Opara, “That is a big lie, those two guns have license.
“I advised the federal government to withdraw the charges against my client; my client is just incarcerated for doing nothing.
“It is wrong and unreasonable for the federal government to have joined my client in the matter.”
