Biafra: Fani-Kayode hails ex-Kaduna gov, Umar’s stand on Nnamdi Kanu

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to a statement credited to former Military Administrator of Kaduna State, Col Abubakar Dangiwa Umar, Rtd, advising the Nigerian Government against its plan to re-arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement, the former Kaduna State Governor had said the IPOB leader was not a common criminal and as such arresting him, Kanu, will spell doom for Nigeria.

Reacting to Umar’s statement, Fani-Kayode agreed with the former Governor.

Fani-Kayode, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said if only “more people saw things the way Umar did”, the unity of Nigeria will not be in doubt.

The former Minister, who took to his twitter handle, wrote: “I just read Col. Abubakar Umar’s comments about Nnamdi Kanu and I wholeheartedly concur. He warned against Kanu’s rearrest and said that.

“He was not a common criminal. If only more people saw things the way Umar did nobody would question the unity of Nigeria. He is a good man.”

Kanu, who is facing trial at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, was earlier in the year granted bail with conditions which government said he had flouted.

The Federal Government is asking the court to revoke Kanu’s bail.
