The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, has admonished those agitating for the breakup of Nigeria to shun acts capable of plunging the country into chaos.
President of the group, Sheriff Mulade issued the warning while insisting that the unity of the country remained non-negotiable and sacrosanct.
Speaking in Benin City, the Edo State capital, on Tuesday, Mulade said learning to solve disputes without aggression is a great way to enjoy peace.
According to Mulade, “We in CEPEJ caution that you should adopt non-violence approach to your agitations.
“IPOB, Arewa Youths, Niger Delta agitators, Oduduwa Youths and all other shades of agitators must not plunge Nigeria into avoidable chaos as Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable.”
Mulade said in order to sustain the existing peace in the Niger Delta the Federal Government should expedite action on the environmental clean-up of the region as promised by the presidency.
He urged the people of the region especially those from Ogoni to be patient and continue to dialogue with the government until the cleanup is achieved.
The body’s President noted that the clean-up of the area will lead to sustainable peace and development in the Niger Delta.
