Benue South Rerun: Please vote me, I will not fail you – Mark begs his constituent

Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has asked his Benue South constituents to be steadfast.

He promised not to disappoint them no matter the circumstances.

Senator Mark told the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women group, who visited him at his Abuja residence on Tuesday ahead of the forthcoming rerun election, stated that he was irrevocably committed to the development of Idoma land and Nigeria at large.

He said the Appeal Court, which annulled his election was a surprise but that he respects the sanctity of the rule of law and would do all within the ambits of the law to reclaim his mandate.

Senator Mark said he was encouraged by the plethora of solidarity visits to him since the annulment, which he believed “is a clear testimony that my people truly desires my services”.

“I am encouraged by your visit and support so far. I can assure you that I will always do my best to promote development, peace and unity of our people. Whatever I can do to make our society a better place, I will not hesitate to do that”, Senator Mark stated.

On the forthcoming rerun, the former Senate President urged the people to remain focussed and unperturbed in spite of unwarranted provocation, pointing out that only the Idoma people would vote to determine who should represent them at the National Assembly, without external interference.

Earlier, the leader of the PDP women in Benue State, Mrs. Abeje Egwa pleaded with Senator Mark not to abandon the ship because a lot of people relied on him for socio-political direction.

Mrs. Egwa pointedly told Mark not to be discouraged by the litany of betrayals and blackmailers in the polity, saying “those who are with you are far more than the few that are opposed to you.”

She stated: “We have decided to stay with you and vote for you like we did before. We are prepared to defend the mandate we gave you in the first instance. Any time, any day, we shall vote for you.

“We are comfortable with your leadership and representation. We have no reason to shift the goal post, because we believe that our people have more to gain in your leadership”.
