The Ogbadibo local government PDP chairmanship candidate, Hon. Sunday Onaji, has urged party faithful in the area to be calm in the wake of the court’s decision.
A statement by the Director, Media and Publicity of his Campaign Organization, Yemi Itodo, asked supporters to stay away from the election so as not to legitimize the exercise.
It urged the people to abide by the decision of the state secretariat of the party and stay away from the election as they await further directives, adding that, participating in today’s election in the face of court ruling could cause unpleasant reactions.
The statement urged party supporters, especially, councilorship candidates to remain calm and law abiding, as the State Chairman, Hon. John Ngbede had assured of appealing against the judgment given in Makurdi on Friday.
A Federal High Court in Makurdi, presided by Justice Oneke JHC had, on Friday struck out a suit seeking for the participation of PDP Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates in LG election slated for Saturday 3rd June, for lack of jurisdiction and merit.
With only APC candidates cleared for the poll, the state chairman of PDP, Ngbede, while urging the party candidates and supporters to remain calm and law abiding, also advised members to stay away from the election, as party appeals against the judgment.
