Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has expressed sadness over the painful death of the Vicar-General of the Diocese, Very Reverend Father John Adeyi.

The decomposing body of the Catholic priest, kidnapped about two months ago, was found behind the secretariat of Ogbadibo local government council in Otukpa on Wednesday.

In a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase, Governor Ortom described the deceased priest as a peace-loving man of God, while reassuring the family of the late priest that no matter how long it took, his administration would ensure that perpetrators of the act were found and brought to justice.

He added that the abduction and killing of the priest was not only a crime against man but also against God, stressing that he will not surrender the state to criminals.

Governor Ortom urged security agencies in the state to step up their operations to guarantee the safety of lives and property.

He prayed God to grant the gentle soul of Reverend Father John Adeyi eternal rest and grant his family and relations the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
