The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has described the All Progressives Congress, APC, as “bad losers”, following their defeat at the governorship elections.
Ortom said the comments by APC leaders since he was declared winner of the just concluded governorship election, was an indication that the party was a bad loser and has no good plan for the state.
He made the remark in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tever Akase, on Monday.
The statement reads: “We have read a number of scathing statements in the media credited to key members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Benue State since the governorship election was concluded and Governor Samuel Ortom declared winner.
“The utterances of the APC leaders show that they are very bad losers and as people who do not have good intentions for the state.
“What they fail to realize is that Governor Ortom is a peace-loving man as demonstrated in the hand of fellowship he has extended to the opposition after the election, but that is certainly not a sign of weakness.
“These are the same people who unanimously endorsed Governor Ortom as gubernatorial candidate when he was still in APC. It was the Governor who advised that other aspirants should also be allowed to contest for the party’s ticket in line with the tenets of internal democracy.
“For a man who won the governorship seat on the APC platform in 2015 and has emerged victorious on PDP ticket in 2019 is proof of the confidence Benue people have in Governor Ortom.
“APC in Benue State is yet to respond to the arrest of the personal driver of its governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime in whose position security operatives found huge sums of money on election day apparently meant for vote buying.”
