Benue Guber: Fear grips Suswam, PDP leaders as indigenes reject Governor and his candidate

There are palpable fears and tension in the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State as natives of the state have vowed to ‘boot’ out Suswam and his associates from power over what they tagged ‘failed leadership.’

Suswam has been at the receiving end of harsh criticisms for subjecting civil servants in the state to untold hardship.

The governor who is gunning for the senate had already anointed Terhemen Tarzoor and John Ngbede as successors but this decision did not go down well with many indigenes who say no one can impose their leaders on them.

Few days after the governor got a shocker of his life after he was booed in Gboko for lying to the people, indigenes of the state have intensified their campaign on the social media that both Suswam and his candidates should be voted out come February 28.

DAILY POST observed that even some ardent members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state are not left out of the campaign as they are all crying with one voice, ‘no to Suswam and his stooges”.

On Benue-Family, the most popular group for Benue indigenes on Facebook, the anti-Suswam campaign is deafening as social network users are venting their anger on the governor whom they have tagged ‘Suswine’.

An indigene who does not want his name in print accused the president of backing Suswam and his corrupt government.

He said, “Honestly, GEJ is supporting Suswam’s corrupt administration 100%, no doubt about that.

“Take for instance, the cut off pay from the tertiary institution lecturers in the state, the over ten months strike by the primary school teachers over non-payment of salaries. What of the almost state of bankruptcy of Benue Economy and yet the N500,000,000 donation to support GEJ by some PDP governor including a debtor like Suswam.

“The current strike that see Benue Polytechnic and other schools shut down despite heavy spending on political campaign for his stooge. Name them. Many corrupt practices that have kept the state in the shadow of itself, you could name them. Enough of Suswam dictating for us,” the visibly youth leader said.

Similarly, natives of Benue South, otherwise known as Zone C have already vowed to boycott the election since Suswam and the PDP leaders in the State denied them the chance of ruling the state after 38 years.

The people of the area are using Idoma People of Nigerian, IPN, the most popular Idoma group on Facebook to inform their people not to welcome Suswam if he comes to the community with campaign train.

DAILY POST gathered that the governor who is currently under tension had a closed door meeting with some youth leaders in the state when it became evident that his candidate was going to lose the governorship stool to the opposition.

However, this meeting ended in a deadlock as some youths who could no longer watch the governor insult and accuse them wrongly walked out after he claimed they were being used by the opposition against his government.
