At least, five persons have been reported killed and several villages razed in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State after suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked the community.
The latest attack, it was gathered, rendered many villagers homeless, just as schools and churches were closed to avert further destruction of lives and properties.
The member representing Agatu State Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Sule Audu, told newsmen that the heinous attack occurred on Sunday.
Audu said his people were preparing to go to church when the insurgents launched the attack on them.
He maintained that several houses in various communities, including the Adeka and Olegadeje villages were completely razed.
The lawmaker added that farmlands and properties were also damaged in the renewed attack.
