All is far from being well in the camp of Rt. Hon. Solomon Agidani, former House of Reps Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency who defected from the ruling party, PDP to the All Progressive Congress, APC in his constituency, Agatu Local Government early this week.
Information reaching us says the problem started shortly after the former Lawmaker made an open declaration, stating his decision to dump the umbrella party for the APC, the decision which was very unpalatable to members of his family who saw the move as arrant betrayal.
Speaking with Daybreak Times Editor at Igah-Okpaya on Friday, a source close to Hon. Agidani’s family who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the former lawmaker may be in for fresh troubles as members of his immediate family and close associates have held him on his neck to retrace his steps back to the PDP.
Another source who also pleaded anonymity had earlier disclosed that Hon. Agidani’s staff at the Okabido Hotel had tendered their resignation letters.
The hotel which is located adjacent Unity Bank and opposite Oando Petrol Station in Otukpo is said to be recording low patronages due to shortage of staff.
“As I speak to you, the Manager of Okabido Hotel, Stewards and other staff have deserted the hotel, in protest of the defection of their Boss whom they described as a ‘Betrayal'”, the source said.
The source further revealed that the Manager and a few other staff who abandoned Hon. Agidani are being considered for employment at the Xclusive Wine Bar, a trending relaxation centre in GRA Otukpo believed to be owned by a PDP Chieftain from Agatu Local Government Area.
It could be recalled that Rt. Hon. Solomon Agidani defected to the APC on Monday when the campaign train of the party’s candidate for the February 20 rerun election stormed Agatu Local Government. Reports have it that when the Lawmaker was invited to the podium to address the crowd, he advertently shouted ‘PDP’ 3 times before the Moderator corrected him.
Rt. Hon. Solomon Agidani, a native of Agatu Local Government was a Member, House of Reps from 1999 to 2007 under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
