Emmanuel Jime, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate has lauded INEC for its efforts in ensuring that the polls is hitch-free.

Jime gave the commendation after casting his vote at North Bank polling unit in Makurdi, on Saturday.

He, however, said he was yet to visit the situation room to ascertain exactly what the challenges were.

Jime, said early distribution of materials and the orderly voting process showed that ”our democracy too is evolving”.

“We are yearning for the day when Nigeria will conduct free, credible polls, that is the minimum that is expected from any working democracy; we are optimistic about the future. There have been noticeable improvements in our electoral process,” he said.

BREAKING: Thugs vandalize ballot boxes as EFCC intercept bags of cash meant for vote-buying in Benue

Thugs have disrupted election at North Bank Area, Makurdi, Benue State, after operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission intercepted bags of cash meant for vote-buying.

In an attempt to arrest the culprit, some thugs attacked operatives and vandalised the bus used for patrol.

Consequently, accreditation and voting processes have been brought to an abrupt end.

Governor Samuel Ortom and his wife, Eunice, at about 9:30am cast their votes at Nzorov ward, PU 003 in Guma.

Ortom, after exercising his franchise, said he was confident of victory.

He said, “Process is peaceful so far. Victory is from God, and I believe I will be victorious at the end of the day.”
