The Nigerian Army says men in military uniform,‎ who invaded the official residence of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Vesue, in Katsina Ala, of Benue State, may be impersonators.

The incident was said to have taken place at the weekend at St. Paul Parish, Aye-Twer, Katsina-Ala Diocese.

The suspected soldiers were said to have invaded the residence in search of arms but did not find anything.

Fr. Vesue told Punch that his residence was invaded by military men and that he was not at home when the soldiers came.

He said, “The soldiers stormed the parish I oversee as early as 6am and turned the house upside down claiming they were searching for weapons.

“They searched everywhere and did not find anything. The soldiers came from Takum in Taraba State. I was not around when they came.”

In his reaction, spokesman of Special Force 707 Brigade, Major Olabisi Ayeni, said they would carry out investigation to ascertain the incident, adding that there was possibility that those who carried out the search impersonated soldiers.

Katsina-Ala is the stronghold of the dreaded criminal Terwase Akwaza also known as Gana who has since been declared wanted by the state government. The sum of N10m was placed on him.
