Benue: APC’s attacks on traditional, religious institutions shocking – Governor Ortom

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has berated the All Progressives Congress, APC, accusing it of sounding like a loose cannon ready to assault anyone in sight.

He stated this while condemning APC’s alleged attacks on traditional rulers and Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the state.

Spokesperson of the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, Terver Akase stated that APC in the state has declared war on itself and electoral stakeholders by attacking traditional rulers and Christian body in the state.

In a statement signed by Akase, the governor said: “We have read in the last couple of days, the All Progressives Congress, APC in Benue State launch series of attacks on respected Christian and traditional rulers in the State.

“This is in addition to the protracted hate campaign the party has waged against Governor Samuel Ortom.

“For a party which is aspiring to govern the State, APC’s sustained media attacks on the seat of government as well as traditional and religious institutions is shocking, to say the least.

“In its latest press statement, the party has accused traditional rulers in the State of doing the bidding of the Governor. It had earlier, through its social media hirelings, hurled insults at Benue State officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

“The only ‘offence’ of the CAN leaders was their press conference in which they sued for peace and advised all political parties going into Saturday’s supplementary election to eschew violence.

“APC in Benue State is now clearly at war with itself and every other stakeholder in the electoral process. If they are not raining insults on INEC, they are heaping invectives on political opponents. They now sound like a loose cannon ready to assault anyone in sight.”
