The Senator representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly, Shehu Sani has advised that the Economic and Financial Crimes and Commission, EFCC, should be focused on fighting corrupt individuals rather than freezing state government’s accounts.
The Kaduna lawmaker disclosed this on his Twitter page, warning that collective punishment stalls governance.
His tweet read: “No state Government account should be frozen. The focus should Only be corrupt culprits if at all there’s any.
“Collective punishment stalls Government and Governance. There’s no potent weapon to fight corruption than the rule of law.”
This is coming after the Benue state government described the freezing of its bank account by the anti-graft agency as a “political witch-hunt”.
However, EFCC made a U-turn on Thursday as they unfroze the bank account belonging to Benue government.
