Chief Emmanuel Bello on Monday emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa.
Bello, who contested unopposed at the party primaries, was confirmed by 634 of the 783 delegates.
Declaring the result, the chairman of the Electoral Panel, Mr Chris Njoku, said 783 delegates were accredited for the election, out of which 634 voted endorsing Bello, while one vote was invalid.
Njoku lauded the orderly manner the delegates conducted themselves and urged them to continue to unite for the party’s victory in 2019 elections.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the party, Mr John Muva, who lauded the conduct of the delegates, said the party would continue to wax stronger with more acceptance in the state.
In his acceptance speech, Bello thanked stakeholders and members of the party for the confidence reposed in him to fly the party’s flag in 2019.
“I will like to commend all leaders of our party in the state for working tirelessly, sometimes for many days without sleep, to mobilise our members.
“The real battle is still ahead. Our success in that battle lies in staying and fighting together all the way. Nothing else is an alternative. We fight and win together.
“As I accept your nomination today, I pledge not to betray your trust and goodwill, if elected as governor of Adamawa state,” Bello said.
