Niger state police command has confirmed the arrest of two young men believed to be behind the beheading of a young businessman in the Bosso area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Abigail Unaeze, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.
Unaeze added that they would be charged to court on the conclusion of investigations.
24-year-old Elkana Sunday and 22-year-old Henry Sunday were apprehended in the Kpakungu area, a suburb of the state capital, last Friday for alleged beheading Ebuka Eze.
The duo reportedly sneaked into the agro chemical shop of the deceased in Bosso where they overpowered him and later cut off his head.
The suspects were also said to have escaped with the body part.
Father of the deceased, Mr. Peter Eze, lamented what he described as “the gruesome murder of my son,” saying the incident couldn’t have been an act of God as sympathisers wanted him to accepted.
“This is not an act of God, no! I can’t believe this. It is difficult to attribute this devilish act to the will of God. Why should they kill my son, over what? Thisday quoted him as saying.
“Those who killed my son must tell me why they did it and who sent them to carry out this ungodly act. The law must take its cause. My son is very innocent, he has not committed any crime to deserve this wicked act”.
