The Rivers state Commissioner for Sports, Boma Iyaye, has announced a N1 million gift to Rivers United football club if it wins its away game of the season on Monday for the first time.
This is contained in a statement by the Media Officer of Rivers United, Sammy Wejinya, in Port Harcourt.
The statement said that the team would receive N250, 000 for a draw in the professional league encounter which would be against Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja, Kogi.
It said that the financial incentive to the team was to spur the players and technical crew to win.
“The people of Rivers love Rivers United and we want the club to win in all competitions this season.
“We are yearning for the first away victory in the NPFL, which we believe will be the first of many to come,” it said.
The statement said that sponsors of the club had paid all winning bonuses to the players.
“We have also strictly adhered to the enhanced salary structure in line with regulations of the League Management Company (LMC),” it added.
