The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised corps members serving in Jigawa State to be security conscious and aware owing to the prevalence of kidnappings in the country.
Director-General of the corps, Brig.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure gave the advice in Dutse on Tuesday while on a familiarisation tour of the NYSC Camp in the state.
Kazaure, who was represented by Mr Yakubu Jok, NYSC’s Director of Procurement, expressed satisfaction with the general cleanliness of the camp, and underscored the importance of cleanliness to the lives of people.
He described the camp as one of the best in the country in terms of maintenance of structures and facilities.
The director-general also advised the corps members to be of good conduct during the service year by being humble, dedicated to their work and respecting the culture of their host communities.
Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, said that 83 corps members serving in the state had been reposted to different destinations of primary assignment on health and marital grounds.
Abdullahi added that out of the 83 corps members reposted, 41 were redeployed for health reasons, while 42 were redeployed on marital grounds.
He said that a total of 2,070 corps members of batch A for the 2019 service year were received at the camp.
According to him, all of them are hale and hearty.
He said that the state government had renovated some condemned structures at the camp.
“Some of the areas in which the government worked on are, upgrading of power supply, renovation of hostels, and purchase of new bedding for corps members, among others,’’ he said.
