The Sylva-Igiri Governorship Campaign Organization of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has assured the people of Bayelsa of its readiness to floor Governor Seriake Dickson in the January 9, 2016 rerun election in Southern Ijaw LGA.

Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Nathan Egba, said in a statement issued on Saturday in Yenagoa that the party and its candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva are ready and willing to face Governor Dickson once again.

“The APC and Chief Timipre Sylva are ready to compete with Dickson in any electoral contest any day any time, because we are sure of defeating him.

“Unfortunately, Dickson knows this fact and that is why he has been engaging in all manner of underhand tactics to win this particular election. But Sylva is ever prepared to defeat him,” Egba said.

The APC spokesperson said that it was for this reason that the party vehemently protested the “illegal cancellation” of the Southern Ijaw election results which he said would have put the APC well ahead of the PDP.

He said that the APC was poised to galvanise its support-base in the state in order to repeat the same feat the party recorded in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and other units across the state where supplementary elections are expected to hold.

Egba said: “Our strength is in the fact that majority of the people of Southern Ijaw LGA are with us and are still committed to standing by us in order to eventually celebrate a hard won victory.

“We, therefore call on our people to remain steadfast and resolute in their loyalty and commitment to the APC, come January 9th 2016.”

The statement lauded the personal sacrifices of the APC Deputy Governorship candidate, Elder Wilberforce Igiri and State Party Chairman, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, both of whom hailed from Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

It therefore assured party members and supporters from Southern Ijaw and other places where election would hold that Chief Sylva was fully aware of all their travails in the hands of Governor Dickson and the PDP.

“Our party will fully take care of all the leaders, members, supporters and friends in the incoming APC administration as Chief Sylva will run an all-inclusive government to bring prosperity to all Bayelsa people,” Egba said.
