Bayelsa helicopter crash: Governor Yakowa’s aide confirms his death

One of Governor Patrick Yakowa’s aide, who has asked not to be named, has confirmed to international news agency Reuters, that the governor died in the helicopter crash that happened this evening.

The agency said that “the governor of Nigeria’s Kaduna state, Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, was killed on Saturday when his helicopter crashed in the southerly oil-producing Bayelsa state, an aide to the politician told Reuters.

“An aide to Yakowa who asked not to be named said Yakowa had been killed in the crash.”

Fidelis Odunna, the Bayelsa police spokesman, also confirmed the sad incident that took place in Ogbia Creek, which is a few minutes from Okoroba, which is the venue of the funeral the governor and other political heavyweights attended.

There are no other confirmed details on casualties.
