Bayelsa has a lot of accidental, visionless leaders – Alaibe

A former chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Timi Alaibe, has declared that Bayelsa State is good at producing accidental and visionless leaders.

He said the people of the state were tired of such personalities.

The elder statesman was reacting to claims in some sections that he was supporting the candidacy of the incumbent governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson.

Speaking with newsmen after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja on Thursday, the former NDDC boss noted that it was high time PDP was wiped out of the state.

Alaibe, who described himself as a loyal party man, said he believed in party supremacy. He promised to bring back the glory of the land.

According to him, he was humbled by the decision of leaders of the state who came together to buy the nomination forms on his behalf.

He said, “You were here when the elders and leaders in Bayelsa State came to purchase form, asking me to contest for the governorship of the state. In answer to that call and following my acceptance, I have come here to submit the expression of interest and nomination form.

“We as Bayelsa people are tired of accidental leadership. We are tired of visionless leaders and you know that I come with a lot of experience, goodwill, integrity and reputation. As one of the major oil producing states in this country, Bayelsa has not been able to see structured development in terms of infrastructural development and even in terms of environmental development as consequence of oil production.”

Asked why he parted ways with the incumbent governor of the state, Alaibe said “I am a party man and that is what I have always been. I even have course to step down for people by following party directive those days.

“So, I am a party man but in spite of how we try to support them, the leopard and his skin refused to change, you cannot give what you do not have,” he remarked.
