Bayelsa guber: Dickson, Sylva in tight race

Ahead of the official announcement of yesterday’s Bayelsa State governorship election, unofficial result puts the two major candidates, Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, and Chief Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress,APC, in a close match.

Collation of the results went far into the night and a clearer picture is expected to emerge today.

The result indicated that the PDP performed badly in some of the areas considered to be its threshold including the neighbourhood of Government House, Yenagoa.

Results from Ogbia local Government Area of the state showed a close match between the two major contending forces.

However, election did not hold in Wards 4 and 5 in Ogbia council area following security threat by supporters of the two major parties, also the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, cancelled elections in the area for reasons yet unknown.
