A coalition of eleven political parties in Bayelsa State, under the aegis of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) have adopted Governor Seriake Dickson as their candidate for the December 5 general election.
DAILY POST reliably gathered on Thursday in Yenagoa that the parties include, ADC, KOWA, PPA, AA, Accord Party, UPN, APA, HDP, YDP, Independent Democrat (ID), ACPN and the NNPP.
State chairman of the CNPP, Mr. Lucky Akpeli told newsmen in Yenagoa that the decision to adopt Governor Dickson, who is the PDP candidate, was based on his performance and the assurance that the State was in safe hands.
He said that their decision was based on Dickson’s track record and the parties’ conviction that the governor would deliver more dividends of democracy when given a second term in office.
Also, the state treasurer of IPAC and state chairman of New Nigerian Peoples Democratic Party (NNPP), Mr. Inko Namatebe said that the parties adopted Dickson because of his sterling leadership qualities.
He expressed IPAC’s belief that with Gov. Dickson securing second tenure in office, the state would remain in safe hands.
Namatebe maintained that the governor had performed very well in his first tenure, adding that it was only necessary that he was allowed to continue in office for another term.
“One of the things that Governor Dickson has delivered on is security. He has put in place a frame work for data gathering in an organised and empirical manner in crime”, he said.
The IPAC treasurer listed other areas in which Dickson had made modest achievements to include, education, infrastructure, diversification of the state’s economy, tourism, health and human capacity development.
Accoring to him, other areas include the promotion of good governance, judiciary, transport, agriculture, power and sports development.
“If one person in a single administration is able to achieve these developmental strides, what else do Bayelsans want if not to return our governor for second term.
“We urge all and sundry to support Governor Dickson for a second term in office because Bayelsa will remain in safe hands”, Namatebe appealed.
