Bauchi State Governor, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, has disclosed that the state’s treasury is empty.
He said this after his swearing-in ceremony yesterday.
The governor took the oath of office administered by the State Acting Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
Abubakar stated that it was now clear that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration which ruled for the past 16 years, had no future plans for state.
The governor promised to release facts and figures of the state’s treasury in due course, adding that “the state coffers are completely empty”.
He appealed to the traditional, religious and community leaders in the state to educate the people on the economic condition of Bauchi state.
“The people will have to give us time to correct all wrongs perpetrated by the PDP administration. The people have to understand and be patient with us because it’s not going to be an easy task.
“I want to assure the people of Bauchi State that we are equal to the task of bringing the state out of the woods.”
Abubakar, was sworn in along with his deputy, Nuhu Gidado.
