Bauchi police reveals ‘group’ plans to abduct school children for terrorist activities

The Bauchi State Police Command has raised the alarm over plans by a group to adopt children in the state, specifically for terrorist activities.

The spokesman of the command, ASP Abdulrahman Ahmed, said intelligence reports indicated that some undesirable elements planned to abduct under-age children for recruitment for terrorist activities.

Amhed disclosed this in a statement made available on Wednesday in Bauchi, reinstating that the command was committed to providing safe and secure environment for the people.

The statement said, “The group specifically plans to abduct school children going to or returning from schools. The group has perfected the plan to abduct school children to recruit and indoctrinate them for terrorist activities.

“The command against this backdrop, urges members of the general public to be security conscious of their physical and social environment, specifically, the public should pay attention to persons and objects particularly at schools, motor parks, shopping mall, markets, filling stations and places of worship.”

“Members of the public are urged to report suspicious persons or objects in their neighborhood to the nearest police station for prompt response,” the statement added.
