Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has reacted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Bala Mohammed as winner of the Bauchi governorship election.
Mohammed defeated incumbent Governor Muhammed Abubakar of the All Progressive Congress, (APC).
The pending result of Tafawa Balewa was regenerated, collated and announced at the INEC headquarters on Monday night.
The collation officer of Tafawa Balewa Local government area, Dr Musa Dahiru of the Federal University Kashere, said that PDP polled 39,225 votes as against 30, 055 votes scored by the APC.
With the addition of Tafawa Balewa LGA, Bala Mohammed won with 515,113 votes against 500,625 votes secured by Governor Abubakar.
In a tweet Tuesday morning, Obi said the victory was not an easy one.
He tweeted: “Congratulations to my brother and friend, @SenBalaMohammed , governor-elect Bauchi state.
“Like a phoenix, you emerged victorious against all odds.
“Your victory marks a new beginning and renewed hope for the great people of Bauchi state. To God be the glory.”
