Bauchi LGC embarks on street-by-street immunization of children against polio virus

The Bauchi Local Government Council has concluded arrangements to commence street-by-street immunization of children against polio virus in the 20 wards of the area.

The Director, Primary Health Care of the Council,, Alhaji Garba Gamawa, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Thursday, said the move was to ensure total eradication of wild polio virus in the area.

“Bauchi Local Government is set and will be conducting a street-by-street polio immunization of the targeted population.

“The street immunization will commenced on Thursday and end Friday,” he said.

According to him, during the exercise, some incentives will be given to the children to lure them into accepting the vaccines.

He said that those conducting the exercise would also be accompanied by local entertainers to capture the attention of members of the public.

Gamawa said that the street campaign was an extension of the Immunization plus Days (IPDs) usually done every month.
