The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the outcome of the Bauchi State governorship election.
DAILY POST had reported that Sen.Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after polling 515,113 votes to defeat the incumbent, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 500,625 votes.
Announcing the results on Monday, the Returning Officer, Prof. Mohammed Kyari, said total votes cast was 1,339,66, out of which 1,111,406 votes were valid and 22,560 votes were invalid.
Reacting, Atiku on Twitter wrote, “I congratulate Governor-Elect @SenBalaMohammed, who by the stunning upset he pulled in Bauchi State, has shown that he is truly a man of the people.
“I am convinced the next 4 years will also show that he is a man for the people.”
Similarly, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Senator Mohammed on his victory at the polls.
Saraki, on his Twitter handle, wished the Governor-elect wisdom and grace as he embarks on the journey of governing the affairs of the state.
He wrote, “Congratulations Sen. Bala Mohammed on your election as the next Governor of Bauchi State. As you embark on this journey of governing the affairs of your home-state, I wish you wisdom and grace for the task ahead.”
