The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, has revealed that the party’s leadership has decided to approach the court to reclaim its mandate from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Bala Mohammed.
Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar said the chairman of his party, Adams Oshiomhole; President Muhammadu Buhari, and Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo have decided to challenge the outcome of the governorship election in court.
Governor Abubakar, who returned to Bauchi on Wednesday evening, spoke with his supporters at his campaign office in Bauchi.
Recall that Governor Abubakar had conceded defeat after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced Senator Mohammed of the PDP as the winner of the election.
Abubakar confirmed that he had earlier accepted his defeat as “destiny”, however, said that the leadership of the party would file a suit soon to challenge the election.
He said, “I went to Abuja as a loyal and obedient party member. I met with the National Chairman of the APC, I met with the Vice President of Nigeria, I also met with the President of Nigeria.
“All these three offices said that the APC will file a suit in court to challenge the election results of Bauchi.
“As an obedient member, I accept to go with that decision. Everyone knows when the results of the election were announced, I conceded defeat but I contested on the ticket of the party and the party has refused to accept the outcome.”
