Barcelona yet to begin contract talks with Messi

Barcelona remain confident of keeping Lionel Messi at the club, despite the fact that talks have not begun over a new deal.
Last week, Luis Suarez became the latest player to sign a new contract with the La Liga champions, extending his stay at the Camp Nou until 2021 .
In the recent past, Sergio Busquets, Neymar and Javier Mascherano have all committed their futures to Barca. But the fans are most desperate to see Messi sign a new deal.
The Argentine’s current contract runs out in 2018.
“We haven’t started negotiations for Messi’s renewal,” the club’s vice-president, Jordi Mestre, told Movistar after Barca’s 4-1 win against Espanyol.
“But after those of Neymar and Luis Suarez, we hope to finalise it in the first trimester of the year”, he added.
