Barcelona would be a ‘normal’ club without Messi – Wenger

Arsene Wenger, has sensationally claimed that Barcelona, would be an average side, without their phenomenal forward, Lionel Messi. Messi, has scored 82 times this year and is only three goals shy of breaking Gerd Muller’s long standing record.

“He has won absolutely everything he can at club level, and beaten all the numbers. Could he be the same player somewhere else?” the Arsenal manager told French TV station Bein Sport.

“I believe that Barca suits him well, they have lots of possession, so they can keep the ball while he finds a good position to be a threat. So not exactly the same player.

“But, I reverse it, would Barca be the same without Messi? Certainly not, they quickly would become much more normal.’

The Barcelona forward, was yesterday announced as one of the three finalists for the 2012 Ballon d’Or award, along with team mate Andres Iniesta and Cristiano Ronaldo.
