Barcelona vs Valencia: Suarez nets winner as holders win semi-final first leg

Barcelona are on the verge of qualifying for their fifth consecutive Copa del Rey final, after they beat Valencia 1-0 on Thursday night at the Nou Camp.

Luis Suarez scored the only goal of the game, as the holders claimed victory in the first leg of the semi-final clash.

Valencia were hammered 7-0 in this fixture last season, but produced a resilient performance this time around, to ensure they head into the return leg within touching distance.

Barca found it hard to break through the visitors until the 67th minute, with Suarez heading in Lionel Messi’s cross at the back post.

Substitute Santi Mina wasted a great chance as he headed over at the death.
