Barcelona vs Sevilla: Messi substituted in first half, doubtful for El Clasico

Barcelona are sweating over the fitness of Lionel Messi, after he was substituted with an apparent elbow injury, in Saturday’s LaLiga clash against Sevilla at the Camp Nou.

The Argentine superstar made it 2-0 with a brilliant low finish, after Philippe Coutinho had opened scoring in the second minute.

Messi was then taken off in the 17th minute, after appearing land awkwardly on his right arm, during a tussle for the ball with Sevilla midfielder Franco Vazquez.

After receiving lengthy treatment on the sideline, he was replaced by Ousmane Dembele.

Barca doctors wound a tight bandage over his right arm, before deciding he couldn’t continue.

Messi is likely to be a doubt for Barca’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan on Wednesday, along with next weekend’s El Clasico with Real Madrid.
