Real Madrid vice-captain, Marcelo said that he does not like the idea of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system to be use in La Liga even though referee Hernandez Hernandez mistake denied him a clear penalty in the 2-2 draw at Camp Nou on Sunday.
Hernandez took most of the headlines when he angered both sides with a number of debatable calls, with Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos claiming the official’s decision-making had been affected by a half-time influence of Barca’s Lionel Messi.
Marcelo told reporters after the game, “Some days the [referees] make mistakes, and others they do not.
“It’s not important. There is a lot of tension in these games. Some days it goes for you, other days against you.
“I believe [the Jordi Alba challenge] was a penalty, Sergi Roberto caught me in the face [for a red card], but it’s gone now. VAR takes the flavour out of football. Although I am nobody to change anything, personally, I don’t like it.”
Meanwhile, La Liga had announced in October that it plans to introduce VAR beginning from next season.
