Barcelona vs Real Betis: Valverde’s men claim first La Liga win of new season

Barcelona ended a difficult week by beating Real Betis 2-0 at the Nou Camp in their La Liga opener on Sunday.
It was a comfortable evening for Barca and the result would have done little to lighten the mood around the club, following the departure of Neymar to PSG, the 5-1 defeat suffered to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup and most importantly, the city’s sadness following the terror attacks earlier this week.
Betis fullback Alin Tosca scored an own goal, before Sergi Roberto added a second two minutes later, as Ernesto Valverde finally enjoyed a competitive win as Barca manager.
The home side were largely untroubled in the match by an unambitious Betis side, who failed to register a shot on target.
Lionel Messi however struck the woodwork three times, as he failed to score in the league opener.
