Former Liverpool stars, Michael Owen; Robbie Fowler, and Steve McManaman, have predicted the outcome of the Champions League semi-final tie between the club and Barcelona.
Liverpool defeated Porto 4-1 on Tuesday night and 6-1 on aggregate to secure their place in the last four.
It was goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk that secured Liverpool’s passage.
Owen backed Liverpool to reach the final of Europe’s elite club competition, as they did last season.
Owen told BT Sport, “With the first game at the Nou Camp that’s a huge advantage. Going back to Anfield that’s a real bonus.”
Fowler also feels that Jurgen Klopp’s side will get the better of Barcelona.
He said on BT Sport, “I think they’ve got a great chance. Man United showed at Old Trafford that teams can get behind them. With Liverpool’s attacking prowess, they’re more of a match for anyone.”
McManaman added, “I fancy an English team to win the competition this year. Barca were impressive against Man United but I don’t think they’re as good as two or three years ago.
“I think the English league is stronger than La Liga. If you can keep Messi quiet and bully him, I don’t think they’ve got that much.”
