Barcelona vs Chelsea: Camp Nou ‘has turned into a bit of a hell’ – Gomes

Barcelona midfielder, Andre Gomes, has disclosed that he’s hating his time at the Nou Camp because it has turned into a bit of a hell.

He said this ahead of their Champions League second round of 16 tie with Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Portugal international, who is in his second season at the Catalan club, has started to feel more pressure.

The 24-year-old, who has made just a few starts in La Liga this season, is yet to score, although he has provided a solitary assist in the Copa del Rey.

Gomes, who joined Barcelona from Valencia for £32.5m, says he feels ashamed of how things have turned out.

“I don’t feel good on the pitch,” Gomes told Panenka magazine.

“I am not enjoying what I am doing. The first six months were pretty good but then things changed.

“Maybe it’s not the right word to use, but it has turned into a bit of a hell, because I have started to feel more pressure.

“The feeling that I have during games is bad.

“With pressure I feel fine, but with the pressure on myself, I don’t. The feeling that I have during games is bad.

“In training, I’m relaxed. I feel comfortable around my teammates. Obviously, there are days that I feel a little low on confidence and in training it can be noticeable.

“On more than one occasion, I didn’t want to leave my house. People look at you… you have fear of going on the street out of shame.

“My friends tell me I am going with the handbrake on. I close myself off. I don’t take allow myself to get rid of the frustration I have.

“Then I don’t talk to anybody, I don’t bother anyone. It is like I feel ashamed.

“Although my teammates help me a lot, the things don’t work out the way they want them to work out.”

Gomes could be involved when Chelsea visit the Camp Nou on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League clash.

Meanwhile, Gomes is among the three Barca’s players fellow teammate, Lionel Messi told the club executive to sell.
