Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde has provided an update on star player, Lionel Messi’s injury ahead of the club’s away La Liga match with Sevilla.
Messi was called up by coach, Jorge Sampaoli for Argentina’s two friendly matches against Italy and Spain, but was unable to play in any of them.
Speaking on the fitness of Messi, Valverde told reporters that the 30-year-old had some problems in their last game against Athletic Bilbao, but it was nothing serious.
Valverde said: “We dont know too much, tomorrow (today) at the training center they’ll be with us and we’ll have a look.
“On Friday we would have a press conference and we’ll be able to give you more news then. But we don’t know anything at the moment.
“He finished the game against Athletic in good condition although he had a little problem but nothing important.
“The truth is I cant really say too much because we have to wait for him to come back and have a look in the next couple of days.
“I am calm. We will not get too worried ahead of time about this, tomorrow the medics will look at him and we will see what steps to take.
“(Messi) finished the last game in La Liga well, against Athletic, with some pain but nothing too much. I will not venture to say something that I haven’t seen personally.”
