Barcelona, Bayern Munich join Madrid and Dortmund in Champions League semi-finals

Lionel Messi climbed off the bench, to inspire Barcelona, as they drew 1-1 to qualify for the semi-finals of this season’s Champions League.

The Catalans had the slight advantage going into the second leg at the Camp Nou, thanks to a 2-2 draw they took away from France last week, but it was the Ligue 1 club who drew first blood, with Pastore poking the ball past Victor Valdes.

Although the Spanish team had all the passing and possession, they lacked precision. In the 62nd minutes, Lionel Messi, who was a doubt for the game, replaced Fabregas and played a crucial role in the equaliser scored by Pedro Rodriguez.

In Turin, Bayern Munich replicated the result they achieved at the Allianz Arena, to prove it was no fluke. Mandzukic headed it the opener after Buffon palmed away Robben’s free-kick, before Pizarro made sure in the dying minutes, as Bayern Munich qualified on a 4-0 aggregate scoreline.
