A former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Femi Bamisile, has come under severe criticism by a friend, Mr. Bolaji Jeje, who claimed that he facilitated Bamisile’s meeting with Governor Ayodele Fayose.
He described the claim by the former speaker that the governor begged him to return to the Peoples Democratic Party as “a shameless lie.”
Jeje claimed Bamisile approached him to facilitate his return to the Peoples Democratic Party and that they subsequently met with the governor at the Eko Hotels and Suite, Lagos, on August 17, 2015, at about 12:30am.
He said, “We were together in Eko Hotels till around 3am and I challenge Bamisile to deny these facts.
“It was at the Eko Hotel meeting. Bamisile was the one who begged Governor Fayose at the Eko Hotel meeting and the agreement reached was for him (Bamisile) to return to the PDP this week because he said he was going to travel abroad next week Monday.”
But responding to the allegation, Bamisile said Jeje was being used by Fayose to scandalise and rubbish his image.
“Though Jeje is my friend, but under this context, he is being used against me by the government. I left the party during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan. This is almost a year that he got into office. Those who wanted to contest elections have virtually got everything. If I should join, what would he give me now?
“I have said it repeatedly that I can’t work with Fayose. What is my gain in going the PDP, a party that is not controlling the Federal Government? Fayose is a man of shady character. I can’t have anything to do with him.”
