Balogun of Ibadanland, Omiyale is dead

The death has been announced of the Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Sulaimon Adegboyega Alao Omiyale.

The monarch died at the age of 91.

Omiyale, who is second in command to the Olubadan of Ibadan, died on Saturday evening at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

He was buried at the Ope Agbe Palace, Omiyale house, Oja’ba, Ibadan, in the evening, after a funeral service by the Chief Imam of Ibadan, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy Abubakri Agbotomokekere.

The Baale of Olomi in Ibadan, Chief Samuel Layode Oyewale, who confirmed his death, said the late Omiyale became the Mogaji in 1967.

He described his death as a great loss to the family but said “there is nothing one can do to stop the will of God.”
