The trial of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh resume on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja with the cross-examination of the first prosecution witness, Abdullahi Yushau.
Yushau had, while testifying, told the court how he assisted Badeh to convert N558m from funds meant for the Nigerian Air Force into dollars and subsequently delivered it to the former military chief in his then official residence at Niger barracks Abuja.
At the resumed hearing today, Yushau told the court that Badeh ordered the posting of a junior officer to him, Captain Sini, whose job was to personally change the money into dollars as he only directs.
He added that Sini usually brought the dollar equivalent to him for onward transfer to Badeh.
Yushau said, “Badeh ordered the posting of Group Captain Sini to me, to personally handle the changing of over N558m into dollars.
“When Sini converts the money into dollars, he brings the money to me and I personally take the dollar equivalent to Badeh in his house.”
“My Command Finance Officers has all the records of all the money I gave to Badeh.”
“While I was in custody of the EFCC, my finance officers were also invited and they gave the records of all the properties procured for Badeh.
Meanwhile, Justice Okon Abang adjourned the matter till April 19 for further cross-examination of the prosecution witness and continuation of trial.
